The Pigott/Piggott/Pigot Project is a Y dna project. Establish Y chromosome DNA signatures for Pigott/Piggott (& varients of the name) families to prove relationships & facilitate fundamental research. Three families have been proven: one descends from Francis Pigot, b.1642, who arrived in Northampton Co., Virginia about 1663 & m. Frances Robins before 1665. Descendants are found in Carteret Co., NC. A second descends from Nathaniel Pigott of Carteret Co, NC, first found there in the 1720s. Y-dna has proven two families are not related. The third Pigott/Piggott group has paper trail research suggesting a connection to the Pigots of Shropshire.
