About us
This project was started to determine if an unknown Peil friend in Germany is related to a friend in the USA whose Grandmother was a Peil who was born in Germany and emigrated to Wisconsin in about 1902.
There are no male direct descendents alive in the USA of the Grandmothers lineage, therefore the basis of determining if the Peil friend is a distant Peil relative is to obtain Y DNA data on a known male Peil distant relative in Germany and comparing his results to the Peil friends Y DNA.
In Germany Peil is pronounced File, or Pfeil, by many of the older Germans whereas other pronunciations may be Peel, Peele, Piel, Pile and so on.
