The objective of this project is to combine traditional and genetic genealogy to try to discover our lineages as far as possible toward a common ancestor. The Pettigrew/Petticrew Surname DNA Project will assist any genetic or surnamed Pettigrew, Petticrew, or Bedegrew to participate in FamilyTreeDNA Y-chromosome testing. Women may participate by recruiting a brother, father, or other male relative with the Pettigrew/Petticrew surname. Close genetic relatives thus far identified include men with each of the following surnames: Bedigrew, Bowling, Brown, Browne, Burns, Eagleson, Eagleton, Greenlaw, Hamilton, Harper, Hill, Hughes, Manhood, Scott, Stevens, and Timms.
