The goal of the Pembroke Surname Y-DNA Project is to help individuals with this surname explore their heritage through DNA testing and sharing of information. All variant spellings are welcome. If your Surname spelling is missing, we will be glad to add it.

The group administrators would appreciate your assistance in publicizing the establishment of this Surname group, and recruiting new members.  As more Pembroke's are tested, it will be interesting to see what patterns emerge.

The number of markers you test is up to you.  New members may want to start out with a 12-marker Y-DNA test (the least expensive test), or the 25-marker test which currently is only 25% more expensive than the most basic test and more than doubles the number of markers (so it is a good value).  If we find close matches in some specific sub-groups, those members might want to eventually upgrade by testing additional markers to further evaluate genetic/genealogical relationships.
