At the time of the UK 1881 census, the greatest concentration of the Pell surname was in the East Midlands. The name was most common in Northamptonshire, tapering off as it reached Bradford in the North and  Greater London to the South.
 
The main goals of this project are:
 
·         To discover if any of the Pell families are related
·         To sort people with the Pell surname by family and/or location
·         To determine the most likely localities of origin for these families
·         To facilitate contact for closely related families
