There are many Parnes families who lived in Galicia and elsewhere in Europe.  Some are connected to the family of David Parnes of Dubno (1600s), whose descendants included Parnes, Raffalovitch, and Marshalkovitch families.  Not all Parnes families are linked to this family, however.  The name Parnes derives from a leadership position in the Jewish community.  Thus there may be many independent origins for various Parnes families.  It is our hope that this project will help show which Parnes lines may be linked to each other and which lines may not be linked.
