ORGANEK
The earliest available historical records show the ORGANEK or ORGANKIEWICZ surname in Poland, primarily in a variety of small towns in the Kielce - Radom districts in the 18th through the 20th centuries. The surname has been found in both Jewish and Catholic families but, to date, no historical record has been found to prove a link between them. It is hoped that DNA testing will provide relevant information to show links between these families.
Upon emigration to Canada and the United States, members of ORGANEK or ORGANKIEWICZ families have used surnames in English such as ORGANEK, ORGANIC, ORGANICK, and ORGAN. No families are currently found in North America, which still use ORGANKIEWICZ. At the present time there are still families with carrying the surname in Poland, as well as individuals holding those surnames, or descendants of individuals with those surnames, all over Canada and the United States.
The goal of this project is to find links between different branches of the ORGANEK - ORGANKIEWICZ families to determine if there was a common ancestor. Individuals with this surname, anywhere in their family tree, are encouraged to join this project to help us meet this goal.
