If you are a male OAKMAN you are invited to participate in the OAKMAN Surname DNA Project.
We encourage males with the surname (or an interest in the surname) OAKMAN to take the most comprehensive Y-DNA test that suits their budget.
A minimum of the Y-DNA37 marker test is recommended, but even the less expensive Y-DNA12 marker test will yield initial useful results, enabling the project to make progress.
- how your OAKMAN ancestors are related to other families with the OAKMAN surname
- how the different OAKMAN family lines are related worldwide
- whether the OAKMAN lines that trace back to England, Northern Ireland or Scotland are related or have separate origins
- whether there are many different families with the surname OAKMAN
- which OAKMAN researchers may be able to collaborate their family history research because they share a common ancestor
