Some goals for the Norwood Y-DNA project should be to upgrade tests.
The Big Y 700 test is proving valuable for adding men to the tree of mankind, and with strategic testing to establish better, more individualized branching of the tree. With the Francis Norwood of Gloucester, Mass., line, we have seen branching that FTDNA estimates to have occurred in 1800 AD, well within the genealogical timeframe.
The William Norwood of Surry Co., VA, lineage has one Big Y 700 test as does the Theophilus Norwood lineage. These are valuable, but other members of those men’s nearer families and more distantly related cousins should also be tested. Recently, another Big Y 700 test has come in for the William Norwood of Surry Co., VA, lineage, and it has resulted in finer branching of the tree.
I will be happy to help strategize further testing in the various lineages and interpret results.
It would be a good idea to build our general fund to help pay for additional testing as a group. The advanced tests are expensive, but with sales, the price does come down, and those who are upgrading do not pay full price for the tests.
