About us

This Y-DNA project is open to any McKIMMON male, including those with names that are variants of that spelling such as McKIM, McKIMM, McKEMON, McKEEMAN, MISKIMMON and many others. The individual being tested must be a male with no female interruption in his lineage from his earliest McKIMMON or variant surname ancestor. Female researchers may also join by recruiting a closely related McKimmon or variant surname male (for example, father, brother or male cousin) as only males carry Y-DNA.

One objective of this project is to assist McKimmon researchers in proving connections to their countries of origin. It appears that McKimmon and variants originated in Ireland and/or Scotland. The McKimmon surname is not widespread. Building a database of McKimmon DNA results will enable researchers to compare groups and to discover connections worldwide that might otherwise never have been found.

We are are seeking new participants, so if you are interested in joining, please contact the Group Administrator. We invite you to explore this project site by choosing one of the tabs above. GOALS outlines our objectives. RESULTS offers comments on DNA results. DNA RESULTS is a chart showing DNA results.
