The initial Goal of our Group Project, is to prove the 5 or 6 Sons out of 7 (who bore issue) born of James Massengill l and wife Judith. *NOTE: Judith surname is known to be O, believed to be Odem, there is only one document where she is mentioned as Judith O Massengill, so there is no concrete proof, to date, which would indicate her maiden surname, if she is an Odem/Odom, it's not verified by DNA or any paper. We do not know who her parents are, as yet.
James Massengill l and Judith had 7 sons, named James ll, Nathaniel, Abraham, Henry Sr, Daniel lll, Joseph and Thomas, it appears both Joseph and Thomas bore no issue.
We are still researching to see if Joseph had any children, as Joseph left his entire estate to wife, Mary. Thomas left his entire estate to others aside from his siblings, and there is no indication of a child nor spouse.
The aggregate majority of our Male Massengill and Variants YDNA testers have proved as Haplogroup I-M253 at Y-111 or lower level, and at a deeper dive, of BigY700, they fall under the umbrella of Haplogroup I-FGC68814, which forms the English/Scottish branch "across the pond" of our Male counterparts, who, through patrilineal lines, are surnamed ROBSON and variants. Our historic breakaway in 2022 from the English branch, formed the American branch of our Massengill and Variants family under the umbrella of Haplogroup I-FT239943, which represents James Massengill l of Surry, VA, British America, and his forebears, Daniel II b abt 1666 VA, British America and Daniel I, baptized 1 Jan 1625 Whitby Parish, Yorkshire UK, so of George/Georgi Marsengall born abt 1600 (brother of Gilbert/Gilberti) and wife Elizabeth Norrison.

As of 6 Nov 2023, there are multiple refined haplogroups descending from I-FT239943, which we are certain are methodically proving the descendant sons of James l and wife, Judith. To date, Henry Sr of Watauga, and his older brothers Nathaniel and
James ll have been proved. Additionally, we have found 7 alternate haplogroup patrilineal branches to date, which were formed here in America, confirmed: 5 are circa 1740-1840 ish: Pate/Pait, Turner, Clemons/Reilly, Temple, Bass/Basse... 1 is circa 1932: Cogswell. 1 is undetermined as yet; possibly Jones... all of these branches do include 10 of our male testers who proved as non Robson. We are currently working on the DNA of these lines and seeking to prove these lines as well. So, our goal has ultimately expanded!
