The Mackler surname project is open to all Ashkenazim from what was the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, commonly known as Polish Russia, with the surname מקלר. This was often written by the Russian officials as: Mekler, Meykler and Meykhler. For those that emigrated to the United States of America, the spelling 'Mackler' was chosen.
