The goal of this Y-DNA project is to identify which lines are related, and which are not. We also expect to match men with other surnames (such as Anderson and Nilson), due to the way the Scandinavians named themselves. The name Nils Andersson, for example, would indicate that Nils was the ‘son of Anders’. Differences in surname spellings in Scandinavia can indicate country of origin. The -son ending is typically Swedish, while -sen is usually Norwegian or Danish. Hence, the difference between the surnames Jenson and Jensen.
