By joining the group you agree to provide the project with 3 things. 1) The surname of the person being tested. 2) The name, date and place of birth of the oldest researched male ancestor of your male patrilineal line and the oldest researched female ancestor of your matrilineal line. 3) Permission to publish the DNA results and the names, dates and places of birth of the oldest known patrilineal or matrilineal ancestor. Participation in the Lumpkin DNA Project is open to anyone, anywhere in the world with European roots who have the surname Lumpkin, Lumpkins, Lumkin or any other of its variants. The goals of the project include, among others: (a) help participants solve longstanding genealogical problems and find new relationships with other Lumpkin(s) lines, (b) determine which particular Lumpkin(s) lines are closely related and which are not, (c) determine how many different common male ancestors are represented by the Lumpkin(s) surname, (d) are there geographical relationships that can be established?, (e) are all Lumpkin(s) from an ancestral country related, or are there many different families with the name Lumpkin(s)?
