About us
The Lott surname is of English origin.
For the most part, this project returns Y-DNA Haplogroup I-M223 described as “incredibly old, approximately 17,400 years old … [with] surviving lines much older than the I1 Haplogroup”.
In particular, “this is I2, who were among the earliest post-Ice Age inhabitants of Britain — the builders of the early phases of Stonehenge”.
For descendants citing colonial American ancestry, the DNA points to a single American immigrant.
This project will be of interest to men who either:
• descend on the male line with the LOTT surname;
• or those whose Y- DNA matches those with the surname LOTT.
Variants of the name include: Lot, Lotte and Loth.
