Members of this LOPATA SURNAME project share the surname and/or its variants on any one of their pedigree branches. The project welcomes members who have tested Y, mt-DNA, FamilyFinder (autosomal DNA), and autosomal transfers from other genetic genealogy companies whose results would include those for one of their lines containing the LOPATA surname. We are especially interested in growing through the membership testing autosomal DNA. Autosomal testing will lead to more genetic matches for the study and an increased understanding of our member's shared matches. To date, several branches have been identified throughout the US leading to a specific set of villages in the Zamagurie, and former Spis County Slovakia regions.
