About us
The first two project members (a Looker and a Luker) were tested in 2006. Both family lines resided in NJ in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, but a connection could not be documented. Test results showed that the DNA results of these two individuals were significantly different: only 11 markers out of 37 matched.
This project is seeking individuals (male and female) with connections to surnames sounding like LOOKER, LOKER, LUKER, LUCRE, etc. Many with these names have been found on the eastern coast of the United States, with rumored connections to the British Isles. We are especially interested in descendants of those that lived in the New York City and New Jersey areas (Orange & Essex Cos. thus far) of the United States during the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. The goal of this project is to assist descendants in untangling these lines.
