About us
Accodring to the "Chronicles of the Year One Thousand" (le «Cronache dell'Anno Mille») by Rodolfo il Glabro the founder of the Loffredo family was Hugh (Ugone), agnate of the Counts and then Dukes of Normandy from Denmark and Norway. The aforementioned Hugh Lord of Ridelli, son of Goffredo (also known as Loffredo from which the family takes its name), son of King Horik I of Denmark, son of King Gudfred of Denmark, came to Puglia around the year 1000.
The Loffredos played an important role in the history of the Kingdom of Naples and Italy in general and must be related to the counts of Saarbrücken and Commercy and the Asturleonese dynasty. The family legend and historic records trace their descent from the House of Yngling.
