Specific Goals:

• ·       Discover if early Leichner, Liknes/Likenes and Lechnitzky surnames are connected to the present day Leichnitz surname and/or find previously unknown variants

• ·       Discover the early geographical roots of the Leichnitz surname, i.e. German or ?

• ·       Determine if there is more than one origin of the surname

• ·       Discover the mutations which define the major branches of the tree going back to the origin of the surname

• ·       Discover any evidence of paternity events such as adoptions

General Goals:

• ·       Discover information to help with our family history research

• ·       Discover information which may solve research problems, and/or resolve brick walls

• ·       Sort out multiple families/individuals found in the same location

• ·       Confirm or get clues regarding migrations

• ·       Confirm suspected events, such as illegitimacy and adoption

• ·       Find any mistaken connections in family trees

• ·       Validate family history research

• ·       Bridge gaps in the paper records

• ·       Preserve DNA results for future research
