The Lease DNA Study is a Y-DNA surname specific project. The Y-chromosome only exists in the male population. It is passed from fathers-to sons. To participate you MUST descend directly in an UNBROKEN male-to-male line from a Lease ancestor or have a Y-DNA37 match a study member Ladies are extremely valuable to our study. Since you do not carry the Y-chromosome, you can locate and sponsor a male relative to test on your behalf, you can share your research and encourage others to test or donate to our study. We strongly recommend the Big Y-700 test and Family Finder test. The cost is more upfront but will be cheaper than upgrading from lower tests over time. Members must take a Y-DNA-37 test. We suggest everyone, male or female, take a Family Finder test, even if not able to participate in our surname specific study. All members MUST share their Lease lineage with the administrators; either by GEDCOM or expanded pedigrees (to include your earliest proven ancestor). Careful review of submitted lineages in conjunction with Y-DNA results will allow for better comprehensive interpretation. Members must set their permissions to "advanced" to allow assistance from our administrators.
