About us

A project dedicated to the study of Y-DNA and mitochondrial DNA profiles of early members of Latter Day Saint movement churches including individuals who were members of the Church of Christ (1830) and later the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (1838) at any time in the first forty years of its history (1830-1870). This includes individuals who descend from early members of several churches of the Latter Day Saint movement between 1830 and 1870 including among others: - Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon or Brighamite) - Community of Christ (Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) - Church of Jesus Christ (Bickertonite) - Church of Christ (Temple Lot) - Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Strangite) - Church of Jesus Christ (Cutlerite) Male testers whose direct patrilines trace back to early church members (who joined a Latter Day Saint movement church between 1830 and 1870) and all individuals whose direct matrilines trace back to early church members (who joined a Latter Day Saint movement church between 1830 and 1870) are invited to perform Y-DNA testing and/or mitochondrial DNA testing and join this project.
