Project is open to all men of Slovenian ancestry with one of the following surnames: Kastelic, Kastelz, Kastello, Kostello, Kostelec, and variations. In the late 1800's many Slovenian immigrated to the USA and settled in Joliet, IL, Dauphin County, PA, Cleveland, OH and Pueblo, CO, working in mines and steel mills, but census records show thier country of origin as Austria and Jugoslavia depending on the census year. Many of this surname do not know which area of Slovenia their ancestors are from and with DNA testing we may all be able to make connections.
