About us
Levi Moses Kokernoot emigrated from Amsterdam to New Orleans in 1817, at the same time dropping the third "o" from his name. The older of his two sons, Lewis, apparantly left no sons who had sons that lived to maturity. The younger son, David, however, fathered seven girls and two boys, and the boys had boys; so the United States has enough Y-DNA from the elder Levi to support Kokernot research. The Amsterdam phone book is well populated with the Kokernoot surname, suggesting that there is also a good supply of Kokernoot Y-DNA there, too. Are they related?
