About us
Y-DNA Results subgroup sorting criteria:
- Subgroup haplogroups generally within the genealogical timeframe (after approximately 1500 A.D.); otherwise Subgroup Name prefixed with "x:".
- Subgroup includes at least one (1) Knight surname variant; otherwise Subgroup Name prefixed with "z:".
- Kits without Y-DNA test prefixed with "y:".
- Most of the sorting performed Nov-Dec 2023 by KMS.
Y-DNA Results subgroup color coding:
- light green - haplogroup before genealogical timeframe containing Knight surname
- medium green - haplogroup within genealogical timeframe containing "Knight" surname
- dark green - haplogroup before genealogical timeframe containing multiple haplogroups within genealogical timeframe containing "Knight" surname
- yellow - no matches in project within genealogical timeframe; sorted into subgroups by test type
- red - haplogroup appears to be a non-"Knight" surname; usually only one test kit.
