About us

Kiessig (and its many alternate spellings) is a relatively uncommon last name, particularly in the United States. One family line is known that leads to Leipzig, Germany. However, based on brief correspondence, there are several other lines in the US that don't connect to any known relatives. It is possible that the lines connect at some point further back, perhaps in Germany.

The known Kiessig line starts with Charles A. Kiessig (b. 26 Feb 1842, Leipzig, Germany). He had 6 children. One with his first wife Susana: Charles G. Kiessig, Jr (b. 1870, Colorado). Then five with his second wife Bertha: Harry R, Linnie, Frank G., Peter P. and William F. Only Frank and William had children. Frank's kids were: Marguerite L., Otto C. and Edward F. William's kids were: Carol K. and Joan.

Since Y-DNA only allows genetic tracing through males, the known male lines are: Otto C.'s descendants: Russell O., Lawrence A., Richard S., William S., Edward S., Scott T., Samwise, Bradley P. and Timothy C. And Edward F.'s descendants: Stanley F., Matthew S., Michael T. and Jeffrey W.

Whether Charles Kiessig Jr. (who married Grace A. Roberts in 1896) had children is unknown.
