Our ongoing Y-DNA testing definitively proves that Ketchum is a multi-origin surname. We have identified distinct, unrelated paternal haplogroups among our members, confirming that multiple ancient progenitors independently established these lines across different eras and geographies.

2. The Ketchum-Hanan Lineage Resolution

Genetic testing has successfully disproved a biological paternal Hanan descent for the descendants of Archie W. Hanan (1861 to 1913). Current data indicates a distinct genetic signature matching known Ketchum lineages, validating our focus on mapping the precise connection to the descendants of Lewis Grant Ketchum.

3. Advanced Tree Mapping

Through high-resolution Big Y-700 testing, we are successfully isolating unique genetic markers (SNPs) that define specific branches of the colonial Edward Ketcham (died 1655) tree, allowing us to separate distinct family lines down to specific generations.
