About us
An important goal of this project is to help discover the ancestral family tree of paternal lineages for all Ketchum group members regardless of our diverse spellings. This will help us understand the origins of our people. Finding out how we relate together in past generations will help us.
Our project goals include:
To aid Ketchum families in linking together through DNA results;
To remove blocks to information and brick walls in family histories;
To discover, through DNA, the global origins and evolution of the Ketchum surname and Ketchum families;
To survey, and provide a resource and reference for, Ketchum DNA;
To provide our future generations with documented backgrounds of their genetic heritage.
It is specifically NOT our goal to produce a single, unified " Ketchum Family Tree". We believe -- and DNA results support -- that such a single tree is impossible. Ketchum is a multi-origin name there were many ancient progenitors for the Ketchums living today.
Previously Ketchum-Hanan: Using DNA testing, I have been able to verify that my husband is not biologically a Hanan. Two present day Hanan's, both descendents of Archimedes Hanan's (1810 - 1902) brothers, showed no shared markers. Note that Archimedes Hanan not only raised Archie but also Archie's mother, Julia Ann Terry, who's father gave her up in Illinois after her mother died. After finding and contacting present day Ketchums, descendents of Lewis Grant Ketchum, I am hoping their DNA markers match up with present day Hanans.
