It is the purpose of this project to try to establish the connections between various branches of Keefer, Kiefer, Cooper families (and other variations). Because our name was often adopted on the basis of one's profession (e.g., Cooper, Baker, Carpenter), we expect to see several distinct lines within this group project. With that in mind our goals are to:

1) Establish several subgroupings that stem from our various ancestors.

2) Identify specific haplogroups and STR markers which distinguish and help identify members of these subgroups.

3) Help place members within their family grouping.
