REQUIREMENTS for joining this project: 1.) members have tested Family Finder, or have Family Finder on order, or have transferred and unlocked autosomal results from another company; 2.) all four of members' grandparents have known origins either in Italy (including Sardinia and Sicily), or in any Jewish community. If you do not fit these criteria, please do not request membership. The purpose of this project is to connect individuals with Jewish or Italian backgrounds in order to compare myOrigins results and to identify shared Family Finder matches between Italians and Jews. Through systematically gathering and analyzing Family Finder and myOrigins data, we seek to determine the base biogeographical estimates of these communities, and to identify long-forgotten familial connections. We also seek to identify results outside the norm to help project members further their knowledge of their family's origins. Additonally, basic grouping of both yDNA and mtDNA will be made available so that members can compare their results across the communities. Members must have tested Family Finder or transferred their results to FTDNA in order to have their yDNA or mtDNA results displayed. Due to the current data display limitations for Family Finder and myOrigins project results, only yDNA and mtDNA will be available to members upon log in, but updates of myOrigins results will be periodically posted All members are encouraged to test Family Finder with FTDNA or to fully transfer results from 23andme or Ancestry as you are able to.
