Edmund Ingalls (1598-1648) came to America in 1628 from Skirbeck, Lincolnshire, England and settled a year later in Lynn, Mass. Charles Burleigh contended in his 1903 monumental study that all Ingalls in America were descended from the progeny of this one man. This project will attempt to find those linkages among the some 3300 current Ingalls families in America and Canada and extends to our cousins who remained in England. Despite his extraordinary efforts, there were some omissions and errors in Dr. Burleigh's work. Modern-day technology together with avid Ingalls family researchers can help us puzzle these out. Therefore, we are looking for all Ingalls and its many surname variants to join this study to find our common bonds.
