About us

Many years of traditional genealogical research on the Howle family have left us with questions as to our origins and roots. We are now turning to the new field of DNA testing to try to answer some of these questions.

The Howle Y-DNA Project was established at Family Tree DNA on July 17, 2006, with three Howles joining and it has grown from there. We invite all Howle males to join and have their DNA tested. Females may participate by getting a close male relative (father, brother, uncle, son, etc.) to contribute his DNA.

Our traditional research has shown that over the years, some Howle descendants have changed the spelling of their name from Howle to Howl (in Oklahoma), Howel, Howell, etc. Getting tested would be a good way to confirm or refute whether such changes have come into play in your family line.
