About us
This intent of this project is to chronicle and compare the Y Chromosome (direct male-line) and Mitochondrial (direct female-line) DNA of people born and living in California, who are of Hispanic ancestry. This refers to those with ancestors from Spain and its former colonies.
If and when Family Tree DNA Projects can support Autosomal DNA, this project will seek to include those test results a well.
Why might this information be useful?
To borrow from the New Mexico DNA Project's Goals:
"To find our ancient origins, whatever they may be. To discover previously unknown living relatives. To determine migration patterns of different families. To see if similar sounding surnames are related. To discover how closely related all of us really are. To share this information with others so that we can learn more about where we came from."
