Thomas Haydon arrived in Virginia in 1657 as an indentured servant. His Somerset County, England family had supported King George II in his failed effort to prevail during the 1640's English Civil War and the family lost their estate. Thomas Haydon eventually settled his own plantation in Northumberland County, VA and some of his descendants eventually spread up the Rapahannock River. The family were active participants in the American Revolutionary War before becoming early Kentucky explorers.
Many of his Haydon decendants, some later adopting the Hayden spelling, have been identified and are also listed in the WorldConnect project at http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=robthaydon William Haydon, 1740-1819, proved to ba an adopted son of Thomas Haydon II. His biological father was Joseph Brock who died in Spotsylvania County, Virginia in 1742-1743.
