About us

This probe is directed at finding common heritage between groups of early 17th Century Virginia and Pennsylvania immigrants with the name Hawk, Hawks, and Hawkes. The migration of the Hawks family was largely along Southside Virginia, into northwest North Carolina, to South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky and beyond. Other branches may have moved to the Shenadoah of Virginia and to north Georgia. Additionally, there are questions about connections to the large New England family with the some spelling. The names seem to carry the following spelling variations: Halks, Hauk, Hawk, Hawke, Hawkes, Hawks, Hock, Hocks, Hoke, Hucks, Hux.
