The Hawgood DNA project aims to connect all Hawgoods, similar names, and those with similar markers with different surnames. The earliest record is John Hawgood 1500-1562, born in Church Brampton, Northampton, England. Francis Hawgood born circa 1620 emigrated to the USA around 1650 but the Hawgood name was not retained and he became Hogwood in his will. His children and their descendants had various different spellings including Hagewood, Hagood, Haguewood, Haigood, Haywood, and Hegwood. In the UK, the Hawgood name remained unchanged except for one family of Allgoods. We are all Haplotype IZ138, subgroup PH4482. This is quite rare, and we hope to be able to find more distant cousins.
