We believe a great many if not most of the Hagaman/Hegeman/Hagerman families living in the United States today are descendents of Adriaen Hegeman, born in 1625 in Elberg, Geld, Netherlands, and his wife, Katryn Margits, born in Jan., 1628, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. While we have evidence of a few Hagaman families immigrating from Sweden and Germany as late as the 19th century, the early Dutch settlers were prolific and tended to maintain close families. We hope to be able to sort out which families are descendents of Adriaen and Katryn, and which ones immigrated at another time, or, if they all descended from one earlier common ancestor.
