Jacques Grole/Grolet, born in La Rochelle, France, sailed with the La Salle Expedition in 1694. He spent time in Texas, and then ended up in New Mexico where he married Elena Gallegos in 1699. Visit the website (www.gurulefamily.org) to find historical and genealogical information for Jacques (who later became Santiago Gurulé). They had one son, Antonio Gurulé (born 1703) who married Antonia Quintana. The website contains source material for all their descendants, and also contains the the lines of several Native American families who assumed the Gurulé surname.
