The purpose of this project is through Y-DNA tests enhance our knowledge about the different GIRARDIN family clans, starting from those currently residing in Belgium, those in France and Switzerland, and including all those that have emigrated or are spread around the world.
After years of document research the use of Y-DNA tests has been adopted to confirm the paper trails, to accelerate and facilitate finding new links between GIRARDIN family members and among GIRARDIN clans.
This project aims at coordinating results and building a Y-DNA database on the surname GIRARDIN in order to identify various GIRARDIN ancestral lines.
It also aims at spreading the value of Y-DNA testing and the services provided by FamilyTreeDNA, so as to enrich the family knowledge that can be passed on to future generations.
