About us
Ulrich Gindlesperger arrived in Philadelphia, PA on the ship "Phoenix" on September 15, 1749 with his wife Margaritha and one daughter. Ulrich's family settled in Bern Township (north of present day Reading), Berks County, PA. Ulrich and his family eventually ended up in Quemahoning/Stonycreek Township in Bedford (now Somerset) County in western Pennsylvania with numerous descendants. On the ship list, they wrote his name as "Ullerick Kindlishberger". His name was also spelled "Kinglesbarger" and "Guindelsparger" in some Pennsylvania records before his death.
Abraham Guendelsberger came to the United States from Baden Baden, Germany in 1871 and settled in Sandusky, Ohio. A book entitled "Sandusky: Then and Now," Ernest von Schulenburg (1889), indicates that Abraham Guendelsberger was born September 29, 1850, in Eschbach, District of Stauffen, Baden, Germany.
