Goals

The Society for German Genealogy in Eastern Europe (SGGEE) is interested in assisting its members discover their roots.  By encouraging our members to have males in their family Y-DNA tested we can help establish connections between our German surnames, families and Y-haplogroups.  Our intention is to build a database of Y-DNA that can be studied to help understand how our ancestral families ended up in Poland and Ukraine and where they came from.  First, however, our goal is to see how all our known surnames may connect and what different families existed there.

As time goes on and we learn more about our ancestors, our goals may change.  We will be communicating with the members of this project through emails.
