The teip of Galai is one of the tribal ethnic units that form the Karabulak (Orstkhoi) ethnic group in the Vainakh peoples family. According to documented data, the Galais were known in the history of the Caucasus as "Western Karabulaks", "Galashi", "Galai", "Galashevtsy" or "Galaitsy". Historically, the Galai people mainly inhabited the territories along the Osu-Khi, Assa, Sunzha, Fortanga and Gekhi rivers. The Galais considers the Highlands of the Galain-Chazh to be the historical region of their origin.
