The GAINFORTH Surname DNA Project was established in August of 2008. All Gainforth's worldwide are welcome to participate.
At this time it appears all Gainforth's in the U.S. are descended from Thomas Gainforth who emigrated from Wexford, Ireland about 1812. The line settled in Ontario, and later emigrated to Michigan. There were also Gainforth's in England and hopefully this project will help determine if they share a common ancestry.
