About us
This project is for men named Fulp and other confirmed variations. All Fulp and many Fulps, Phelps, Felps, Philps, Phulps, Fultz as well as other surnames, are descendants of Georg Crafft Volp who was born in Sindringen, Germany in 1718. Georg arrived in America with his family in 1751. He and his wife Maria Magdleena Guldig Volp had two additional sons, Michael and Peter, before moving from Pa to near Winston Salem, NC about 1765. Upon moving to NC, Georg changed the German family name from Volp to the Moravian translation Fulp. The name Fulp evolved to many other variations because of the way it sounded and was recorded by census takers and others. yDNA has played an invaluable role in the success of our research discoveries back to Germany. It is now doing the same thing in growing the breath of our family tree. You can see the results of our work at: www.phelpsfulpancestry.com The story of our patriarch, George Crafft Volp can be seen in the Album section in the “Histories and Stories Folder”. Anyone who suspects a family connection should take at least the 37-marker Y chromosome test at FTDNA.
