About us
For those of you who have unfortunately run into a genealogical "brick wall" concerning your Fogle/Fogel ancestor, participation in the Fogle Y-chromosome DNA Project provides an opportunity to aid you in establishing that link that the paper trail could not. DNA testing can be a valuable tool in genealogical research when it is combined with conventional research. Test results can be a useful tool to confirm a suspected connection between two families. When the Y chromosome is tested, it checked against others who have taken the test and matches can be made to determine if another male descends from the same paternal line.
Y-DNA IS PASSED IN AN UNBROKEN CHAIN FROM FATHER TO SON. Only males with the Fogle surname or variant can be tested. Females should request a brother or male cousin to be tested.
By joining the group you agree to provide the project with 3 things.
1) The name of the man being tested
2) The name, date and place of birth of the oldest known ancestor.
3) Permission to publish the Y-DNA results along with the name, date and place of birth of the oldest known ancestor.
