About us
The Ferrers in the project are both from haplogroup R1b1b2 which is the same haplogroup as the Farrs from Bedfordshire. Both Ferrers trace back to Cataluña and one has a genetic distance with the Farrs of Bedfordshire that would put their common ancestor before the time the Ferrers went to Spain from England/Scotland and just after the time Henry de Ferrers went to England. The other Ferrer could possibly have a common ancestor with the Farrs before Henry de Ferrers went to England or the mutations in his line were a little quicker than the other Ferrer line and he has a common ancestor in England with the Farrs. The two Ferrers had close matches on 25 markers with other Farrs that were not from Bedfordshire and then when compared on 37 markers the relationship went out to about 500 to 700 years ago. This is still closer than the connection with the Bedfordshire Farrs.
