About us

The Ferree Story The Ferree Family history is a compilation of years of research and sharing of information that has allowed us to trace our roots back to the 13th century. The Ferree's enjoyed the titles and privileges reserved for the nobility "of knightly origin" and can be considered one of the oldest families of lower Normandy. The family were believed to be silk weavers and merchants in France. The family as we know it today descends from Daniel Ferree, a wine maker in Steinweiller, Germany, and his wife, Marie Warenbour. Not much is known about Daniel in France or Marie’s family but there is documented history, beginning in 1681, about the family of Daniel and Marie in Steinweiler. Daniel passed away in Steinweiler prior to 1708. Marie and family journeyed from Steinweiler to New York in two separate groups beginning in 1708.
