The FENICHELs seem to have their roots in Tarnow, Poland (formerly Austria) and surronding areas. Currently, the most distant ancestor we have identified (for my own branch) is Israel(or Esrael) FENICHEL married to a Ruchel Ellend (or Ellen), both born about 1850 and died before 1893 in Tarnow. We have 8 members of our FENICHEL project. Six families are a definite match to each other. The other two members match each other. This would indicate that there are at least two separate families with a common name. I hope to have more FENICHELs in our group and someday to find the link that binds us all.
