The Feain name is thought to have originated in Limerick, Ireland.It might have been spelt Fehan,Feehan, Phian, Feenan, Feanes, Faheen or Fean. When Michael came to Australia in 1865, it was spelt Fean but later changed to Feain and is still in only small numbers. The first object of this project is to see if the various Feain/Fehan/Feehan/Fean lines have a common link or if they are from diverse sources.
