About us

Welcome to new member Mr. Alfarajat!

Due to generous donations, we will be able to order a SNP test on existing data for Z-1828. (Update: done! Ordered end of january) This will help determine if the J haplogroup results for Faraggis is best thought of as Semitic, European, or a rare hard-to-classify branch.

Results of testing will described under the Results tab.

Recommendations:

1)     For the Volos line, I recommend testing snp Z1828to see if this is the right branch of J1. DONE!

2)     For the Chile line, since we know it too willbe Z1828, I’d recommend upgrading to 37 markers (STR test).  Since the 12 markers he tested are exactmatch to the Volos line, seeing how close the remaining markers are will allowbetter estimation of these two branches common ancestor. From Monistir? Or earlier?

3)     For the Middle Eastern line (Arab? ), onemight want to test P58 snp to confirm this is the branch, or if he needs toknow the exact detailed branch, then the new snp package for J1 would reveal this. I have not seen the results of this testyet, so cannot speak to its accuracy.

4)     I also recommend that a descendent ofMatatia (Mateo, Mathew) Fraggi from Volos test STRs (smallest panel one can get nowis 37 markers).

5)     Testing from descendents from any distinctbranch of Faraggis, whether from Greece or Italy etc. would also provide usefulinfo. (same test, STR markers, smallest available)

Since we currentlyhave some donated funds in the project, we can use those to defray the cost of testingSTR panel for a new Faraggi from a different line from current members.
