About us

The Everett Project is a Y-DNA study project that seeks to map out the relationships between the various paternal lineages of men carrying the Everett surname or some variant thereof.

Project members should

  1. Have at least a Y-DNA37 test. A Y-DNA67 or Y-DNA111 test is preferred, especially if your haplogroup is widespread such as R1b
  2. Have a pedigree chart showing Everett lineage loaded at MyFamilyTree
  3. Have the most distant paternal ancestor information loaded in your profile.

Women with Everett surnames in their family tree should seek a surrogate male tester from their Everett line (father, brother, uncle, cousin, etc.) to obtain a Y-DNA sample.

At this time, persons who have done a FTDNA FamilyFinder test and who have Everetts in their family tree are welcome to join. You will not, of course, be able to compare results.

The goals of the project are:

  1. To compare the similarities and/or differences between the major Everett/Everitt and Evered/Everard ancestry lines in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and elsewhere using Y-DNA.
  2. To identify the Y-DNA profiles of the earliest US Everett family lines in New England and the South from the 17th and 18th centuries and to sort out various regional family lines.
  3. To use the Y-DNA profiles to link Everett family lines in the US with both present and historic family lines in England and potentially other European origins.
